I have tried the Nino's PS Writer and the result is OK. So now, my unique

Mac Ghostview includes an application called macps2pdf, and it has a basic
scripting ability. The output config can be tricky, but you do get full pdf
1.4 compatibility, including compression, optimization, etc. You can couple
it with a folder action for a decent duplication of Distiller watched
folders.
It also has a pdf2ps function, so, depending on how clean that is, you could
combine it with the PDF Workflow stuff in 10.2.4 to
Print to crappy Quartz PDF, which gets converted to PS, then converted back
to a more optimized PDF.
