Can an AppleScript program have a custom icon?
Sure. Where? If you create a script application, its icon can be
altered by a icon editor, rather than AppleScript itself. If you need
custom icons on a dialog box in a scriptlet, there's a rezhack that
you'll probably find in the list archives. For custom icons anywhere
else, use AppleScript Studio.
I think you can set an icon by pasting into the Get Info window but
I'm not sure if these custom icons travel with the program or not.
They do, but this technique doesn't produce very good quality icons.
Can an AS program be made into a package?
AS Studio projects are packages.
