Command-. goes back to day 1, and the original Macintosh keyboard which did
not have an Esc(ape) key. (Just went into the attic to verify that claim.)

The keyboard also didn't have a Control key, so Escape couldn't be
fabricated using control-].

Command-. was a problem to support on many non-English keyboards early on,
since . wasn't the same place on some of them.

Thanks again, Steve J, for "helping" the early Mac users by truncating their
keyboards, debuttoning their mice, etc. (And do get well soon and recover
fully!)
