I've been so accustomed to "cmd-." (command-period) that I always forget
about Esc. Indeed until recently, I never heard people mention Esc. It seems
to have started only since around Mac OS X, and seems mostly mentioned by
people who also have a unix background.
So I'm curious: was Esc. always a synonym for Cmd-.? (I used Macs since
System 7, so that's where 'my personal always' starts ;)) Or has it started
more recently, perhaps related to the Switch campaign, to make Windows and
unix users a bit more at home?
