Thanks for the reply everyone..
this is the best explaination Andi..
I have option 2
Pepsi - John Smith
Pepsi - John Smith
and Erik, to answer your question, at this point, this database is such
a mess, im not too worried about which of the duplicates I delete, if
it is the wrong one, I will have the sales staff update it manually...
oops! I'm a bad man!
Either way Im going to put it back on track..
Andi, what do you think?
Wayne..

Hi Wayne,
I agree that this would best be done within FileMaker.
But before explaining how, can you clarify one thing? Do you have
duplicate
companies AND duplicate contacts? Or only duplicate contacts?
So, do you have:
Pepsi - John Smith, John Smith
-or-
Pepsi - John Smith
Pepsi - John Smith
-or-
Pepsi - John Smith
Pepsi - Mary Johnson
Coke - John Smith
Coke - Mary Johnson
Your approach will be different depending upon your answer.

Subject: Filemaker
Hi there..
It might be a little late in the evening for me.. I'm Hoping someone
out there is a little more fresh ;)
I have a simple filemaker database, I have many records of business
with their respective contacts (say 5 per company)
My problem is that i have mulitple records (that are useless) for the
same contact person.
So i want to write a script that will search for company name, then
contact, and find the records that are the same for those
requirements,
then delete all but 1..
any thoughts?
