Why is it in use?
And why does it occur only after repacing/overwriting?
Is there a method to release it?

This is obviously a bug in Jaguar that has been solved in Panther.
(I do not intend to file a bug report, since it might already be a
known (small) issue, and I now basically use Panther.)
