First of all, this is in Jaguar. I know, i had almost forgotten it
existed, by now. Second, the volume is mounted via SMB. First it was
accessed via "connect to" etc with its i.p. address, then an alias was
made to launch it on subsequent restarts.
You see a volume named "share" on the desktop.
I was trying to get at files in such a manner:
alias "share:thisfolder:afile.txt"
It looks like it's there, but not to applescript.
Sorry, but I don't fully understand :-(
Do you mean that you can type
alias "share:thisfolder:afile.txt"
in Script Editor and have it correctly compiled?
If yes, then "it is there", even for AppleScript...
Where/when/how exactly are you stuck?
On the other hand, could you read the informations for file "afile.text"
(with the Finder) and tell us what appears in the info window (type,
path, name, extension, owner, group, authorizations... well, everything)?
Could be a good start to be sure to speak about the same things!
Axel
