First of all, this is in Jaguar. I know, i had almost forgotten it
existed, by now. Second, the volume is mounted via SMB. First it
was accessed via "connect to" etc with its i.p. address, then an
alias was made to launch it on subsequent restarts.
You see a volume named "share" on the desktop.
I was trying to get at files in such a manner:
alias "share:thisfolder:afile.txt"
It looks like it's there, but not to applescript.
Sorry, but I don't fully understand :-(
Do you mean that you can type
alias "share:thisfolder:afile.txt"
in Script Editor and have it correctly compiled?
umm, no... but I can see why you would wonder about that. Actually, I
was compiling it on another system in a test setup, and sending it to
someone for testing at the actual with phone consult. so I compiled
it with the path property as a string and then referring to that
property with an "as alias" appended when it is called. In the test
setup the volumes were all mac volumes, however. that's why I thought
it was something about the way the smb volume is mounted that makes
the difference.
