Which OS?

Under Mac OS 9 I managed to zap/add/edit resources through a combination of,
IIRC, ProgrammersTool OSAX and Tanaka's OSAX. Under Mac OS X I believe the
DeveloperTools/XCode contain some cli tools that can deal with resource forks
(but I've never used them).

Thanks! Tanaka's OSAX looks like exactly what I need.
