The Tiff spec is available somewhere on the Web, and that's where it's
documented, from memory. Be prepared to do a bit of work...

FYI a bit of googling was all that was needed.

The EXIF data can be retrieved using perl and you'll find a very useful
example here (5.6k):

ther's a python module as well. look at:

http://home.cfl.rr.com/genecash/digital_camera.html

i use it frequently. does a great job.

Today might be a good day for doing that perl tutorial I'd always meant to
get around to doing :-)

or do the python tut... ;-)
