By 'blacklist' (I'm only guessing) I assume you mean forbidding ML's
access to the user's default download folder. Which would involve user
input to set a property on setup?

By 'whitelist', I'm guessing you mean allow _only_ the whitelisted folder
to be accessed by ML (?) Which would require an additional user input?

I think either of these could be implemented, but I'm not very clear on
what you mean.

Yesterday (?), John Welch wrote, and mentioned a 'packet sniffer' as a
means to derive the protocol name. How does a packet sniffer work?
Could it be used 'in real time' in conjunction with an HTML example like
Nigel Smith's to deliver "nastyApp" more reliably?

I have (of course) read and saved every post in this thread, but... when
the fur stops flying, it would be extremely helpful for me if there might
be _some_ consensus and summary on whether there are ways to improve ML
(without completely hobbling it) that would make a _meaningful_
difference in the security provided.

I genuinely appreciate the discussion thus far. Thank you all for your
time and comments.
