Well, against the advice of some
Names! Names! ;-)
I've written a script that disables
Rendezvous:

2) The script creates a Startup Script that should write a system.log entry
reporting the disabled service but does not work. Any ideas why?
Because, unless I'm wrong, the script to be executed has by convention
to bear the same name as its enclosing folder.
So, upon startup, when encountering a folder named "mDNSResponder", the
system expects to find an executable named "mDNSResponder", not "Disabler".
Of course, same holds when running SystemStarter.
As you seem to be in a context you have the needed rights, you might try
to rename the original "mDNSResponder" script (e.g.
"mDNSResponder_Apple") and create your script as "mDNSResponder" instead
of "Disabler".
Hmm...
3) iChat insists on connecting to Rendezvous at start, there appears to be
no way to prevent the ensuing error message.
I haven't yet used iChat very much. But I believe to have somewhere
encountered a setting (not a preference) related to using RendezVous or
not. Or is this just a false memory?

Axel
