(sorry Walter, once again omitted to reply to the list)

What's happened is that the dumb mail server is sending these messages a
second time, long after the issue got resolved. Ron is not reviving the
issue, but Mr. Tea won't know that. It's the damn server. It's a shame that
it should have picked these messages in particular to resend. (I've noticed
that sometimes this happens especially after a weekend. I don't know if
maybe it's connected with something that happens when a message has to be
approved by the list admin, sometimes because the sender has sent form a
non-subscribed address.

These are the headers which show the delay:

Received: from fed1rmmtao12.cox.net (fed1rmmtao12.cox.net [68.230.241.27]) by lists.apple.com (8.12.9/8.12.9) with ESMTP id i4OCpZCt017465 for <email@hidden>; Mon, 24 May 2004 05:51:40 -0700 (PDT)

Received: from [192.168.1.101] (really [68.3.160.3]) by fed1rmmtao12.cox.net (InterMail vM.6.01.03.02 201-2131-111-104-20040324) with ESMTP id <20040521201254.OBEG26349.fed1rmmtao12.cox.net@[192.168.1.101]>; Fri, 21 May 2004 16:12:54 -0400

wondering if in fact it was Cox which held up the message

I'll jump into this thread too.
Just because I too had the feeling to already have read Ron's message
while receiving it for the "second time" and wondered how this could
have happened.

In fact, I only indirectly heard about that message through a quote in a
message from Michelle; I never received a "first copy" of Ron's message.
Looking at Ron's message headers, it appears that it was sent to
Michelle and Cc'd to the list.
Walter's explanation could thus be detailed as follows: for some reason,
server fed1rmmtao12.cox.net immediately sent the message to Michelle,
but delayed the transmittal to the list (as shown in above headers).

The morality is thus: this time, the list server might be innocent ;-)
