Quark auto picture import "yes" seems not to work

I have Quark documents that don't have in their document prefs the auto
picture import turned on. Since you can script this in the following way:
tell application "QuarkXPress Passport"
activate
open CurrentLayout as alias use doc prefs yes do auto picture import
ask
End tell
At least in theory, you would think it would not matter.
But I haven't been able to get the above thing to work. Is there another
way to tell Quark to automatically update modified images (that actually
works)?
