Well, maybe you should get a better email client?

Look, everyone makes mistakes at first. Then they calm down. I find it
INCREDIBLY annoying to have to use script editor to get the code to a point
where I can read it correctly, which plain text doesn't allow me to do.

HTML email is bad when it's abused, but it's not inherently evil by a long
shot.

One thing I would recommend is to avoid anything beyond simplistic
HTML....css and background colors are overkill.
