These keyboard shortcuts appear to be wired into the system at a level where GUI Scripting and the accessibility API on which it is based cannot reach them.

This isn't surprising, since control of these assistive features of Mac OS X are supposed to work whether or not System Preferences is running.

Thank you for replying, and reinforcing what I thought was the reason for my failed attempts.


Being able to do such system level automations would be a great benefit - especially for those writing code to assist the disabled, and others.

Perhaps, such ability may be one of a future 'MacOS X' release's new '150 features' - after the annual $130.00 OS subscription.
