I've tried to work with the defaults but find them too light and too close
in color to one another where they most often intersect in their current
form to get along well with them. I guess my eyes just are worse than I
believed. As it is I tend to work in a fairly dark room with very subdued
lighting. I still follow as many anti-fatigue exercises as I can, but I'm to
the point where I will only sit still in front of a TV for long if the room
is dark, or at least darkened.
When I find myself on a foreign machine, and I have to write more than ten
or twenty lines of AS, I inevitably waste a couple of extra minutes changing
the format to at least be larger, if not different colors. I almost always
have a copy of my SE prefs, along with my code samples, on my iPod, in case
it's going to be a long job. I only wish I could script a refresh command
that would avoid the need to quit the app to accept prefs changes not done
via Preferences.
