RTF isn't bad, it's unnecessary, and redundant for rich text in emails. HTML
is equally capable, and has far better support. At the moment, there are two
major email clients that use RTF, Outlook and Mail, (three of OE Windows
uses it.) Rich text is a useful tool, but it's better to use HTML to get
there, since that's the more widely supported standard.

And any email client worth a darn has the ability to block that. Email
servers can block mail that requires network access as well, this is a
highly solved problem.
