I will do some further investigation and file whatever is repeatable and
useful.
My initial thoughts were "undocumented feature" rather than bug - which is
why it was posted casually rather than formally. The fact that Tiger's DVD
Player is missing "Open VIDEO_TS folder" seemed to confirm that Apple's
handling of DVD data is undergoing some kind of change, but maybe I'm
reading too much into this?
I can still process the DVD data on Tiger - it just won't copy the data from
the DVDs in a reliable manner. If I then load the same DVD on one of our G4s
that is running Panther Server I can simply use the Finder to drag the files
on to Mac running Tiger over the network. I get no errors using Panther and
I get no problems viewing the same DVDs in Tiger using DVD Player - so I
know that the disks are all OK.

I'll take a look at that when I'm back at work. I'm struggling with an
intermittent 28k modem connection at the moment. One of the joys of living
in a rural location :(
