I have noticed that Mail exhibits a funny behavior of allowing you to drag items from your inbox to the Drafts folder. At this point the message becomes completely editable. I am not sure if you can modify its subject and save it without also changing the sender to yourself in the process, but if you're looking for funky workaround this might be an avenue to pursue.

message and save it?
