No disagreement there. Our first stop was to go to our systems people and ask for a RIP. The problem is, again, with the size of the Tiff files. They found that a typical newspaper page with hi-res four color photos could be a over a gig, and decided not to do it. (Our pages are never THAT big, but if they set it up it would be available for everyone). We need it because pages are printed off site via a direct-to-plate process and they have a very short turnaround. Any delay can cost thousands of dollars. I've found Tiffs are bulletproof. We've never had a single problem with an imbedded Tiff but we have had color and font problems with EPSs and PDFs. We've been getting by using Acrobat and Photoshop, but we'll be processing a larger number of pages with this workflow soon.
