Oh come on... I agree with these problems, but "buy Photoshop" isn't

Well, it was only based on having spent the last 20 year's of my life
earning a living from separating images...
If the OP wants to produce CMYK that is worth printing then they'll
need to
look at the images and make decisions about things that scripts aren't
capable of.
Or maybe you have a script that can work out if the original RGB
profile is
correct - or what it should have been if it is missing?
No, and no one said it would. But then neither can Photoshop, which
was what you suggested he do instead. If he needs to automate color
space conversions then one has to assume profiles are in order -
Photoshop or ColorSyncScripting, or any other app.
And another script to work out what the rendering intent for the
conversion
should be?
And another script to apply the appropriate amount of USM - including
the
ability to apply varying USM amounts to each channel should the image
need
it?
What's your problem with Photoshop?
At least you can script it - unlike Apple's publishing apps...
Jeez, nevermind. My problem is not with Photoshop - but you seem to
have a hostility problem. I was going to attempt to help the OP without
telling him all Apple's problems with color mgmt (which I generally
agree with you on).
ColorSync Scripting works *as advertised* for conversion of color
spaces based on ICC profiles. The OP was asking about a problem with
that, and you took it as an opportunity to rant about unrelated issues
- probably out of frustration with Apple (which I share), but it wasn't
relevant - unless you can show that ColorSync Scripting doesn't work as
advertised - in my experience it does. If you have another experience
I'd love to know about it (and think that would be relevant).
So I ask again for the OP to post his script so we can help.
ColorSyncScripting works, as I use it; it is not beset by the problems
of Preview.app or iPhoto from what I've seen, and is more suited to
batch color space conversions.
