You presume right. That was 'scenario 1' in SJ's table of switching -
"Scripts, widgets, java - they 'just work', no need to change anything".

That was a problem in windows data structures, not in chip architecture.

There is a potential for some mathematical / spreadsheet functions to return
slightly different results. This is due to Intel's higher precision in
calculations. You can see some of these effects now by comparing the same
spreadsheet run in excel 2003 on windows and in VPC. These issues are not
likely to be earth shattering.

I am sure that some very hardware specific programmes will get broken.

Other than that, I don't foresee any huge issues.
