I have seen that several times and never had any problem changing, in Eudora settings, the SMTP server to point to the local provider's site.
They don't block 25 for subscribers hard wired to their own server. The problem comes up when you try to hit port 25 somewhere else like the service that provides your web hosting where you have an account. That can be (improperly) perceived as an open relay which causes black listing problems for them.
Even if you use your local ISP's SMTP port you can continue to use whatever you want for your from address in Eudora's settings.
