Considering MS's track record on cross platform as
:
"This is designed to work well on multiple platforms really well, ala Perl
or Python, so you can choose your platform based on need"
vs.
"This is designed to completely suck and be miserable on anything but
Windows, so that once you've killed yourself trying to make it work outside
of windows, you'll have to finish the project on Windows to get any work
done"
pardon me if I'm a tad cynical about the phrase "cross-platform" coming from
the Windows team, where it is normally used to mean "XP, Windows Mobile and
Windows Media Center".
Microsoft has had the PR machine on high for months now, but when you look
at shipping code, they take great pride in punishing you whenever and
wherever possible for not being a 100% MS shop. However, it's reasonable to
assume that folks on this list are going to hear about the effort, so early
information is always good, forewarned, forearmed, etc.
