I believe that the problem was largely due to the fact that you were
backing up to local volume rather than a network volume. I remember
at the time that folks who were trying to backup to firewire drives
for instance were seeing this problem more than folks backing up over
the network.

I've never had rsync crash while using the -E option. Offhand I

all these nebbishes haven't studied the rsync manpage very well.
It's a very
powerful command with a lot of options and mastering the tool takes
weeks of
study.
I read some of those negative reviews of rsync and pretty much scoff,
although I did report earlier here that I have a problem copying Mac
resource files to a DOS disk.
Also, do you suppose you can respond to some text? It's like being
blind
responding to such vague and nebulous allegations.
