This is true in in 10.4 but not 10.3. Apple changed the system in 10.4
which break scripts that worked previously, so in 10.3 it mounts like:
/Volumes/firewiredrive-1"
There is even some problem identifying identically named mounted disks in
the shell, although I forget exactly what the problem is. All I know is that
rsync does not work if one machine is still 10.3. The problem may disappear
when I've gone to 10.4 on both machines but as of now there are too many
glitches in 10.4 to make the commitment.
