On Mac OS X Tiger, the URL Access Scripting component is installed at:
"/System/Library/ScriptingAdditions/URL Access Scripting.app"
Yes, that is known, and my statement of ...
"Yes. You are missing 'URL Access Scripting'. In order to see the
Progress dialog - you are required to have System 9.x (or perhaps
earlier installed), and '/System Folder/Scripting Additions/URL
Access Scripting'."
... was in the framework of - 'if you want a version of 'URL Access
Scripting' that provides a Progress dialog.
I've found no particular need to ask the URL Access Scripting
component to quit though it really doesn't seem to hurt.
If one uses the '/System Folder/Scripting Additions/URL Access
Scripting', via MacOS X - yes, 'quit' should be used.
As for ...
For the sake of the posterity of anyone ... references ... to Mac OS
9 and classic are simply red herring.
... no where in the original post was any version of MacOS X or
System stated, only a request as to why 'URL Scripting Additions'
failed to produce a Progress dialog.
