I am stuck. Here is the script I have that works in OS 10.4.
do shell script "ipconfig set en1 MANUAL 192.168.1.3 255.255.255.0" with administrator privileges
After inputting the user password all is well in 10.4. In 10.3.9 I receive an error message "An error type 1 has occurred"
There were changes/fixes made to 'with administrator privileges' for do shell script in OS 10.4/AS 1.10 (http://developer.apple.com/releasenotes/AppleScript/AppleScript.html). So maybe that's why. AFAIK it's just that it brings up the Mac OS X authentication dialog, and has a 'user name' parameter which might have a default value, but maybe with ipconfig this is the only way that makes sense, so errors in 10.3.9 which does not have this implementation.
