That's because you did a copy. When you do a copy, you leave the originals
where they are. The OS is not going to stop using valid files because you
made a copy of them in a new place. Nor is it going to let you delete the
files it is currently using, (not easily), because they're still valid
files. Doing a move operation would have been a better idea, as then, there
are no originals to use.

But what you did would net the same results on any OS.
