Are you using multiple users on your box, or do you log out from

I'm using Fast User Switching as context-switching: I have my
main mundane identity for most of the stuff I do, and another
account for the stuff I do with a writing partner, which I
assumed I would never use scripting for, but then ended up
wanting to use scripting with. Does this mean I have to log out
of the main account and then it'll see the osaxen from the
system library?
Well, it could well be so.
Could you have a try?
Yep--logout (and reboot) fixed the problem. It moved seamlessly to
picking up the Scripting Additions in the System Library, which is
what I hoped it would do in the first place (I wouldn't have had this
problem on my XP box--one of the few things I really miss is the way
the clipboard does cut-and-paste with files; on the Mac the context
menu doesn't seem to contain 'move this item', or 'cut to
clipboard', so I tend to copy-and-trash.
Regards, Ruth (...who still uses the xp box for a few things, but
most of whose digital life is now mac-based...)
