No, it must remain in the path reference because it IS part of the pathname.

Thanks for the info. Does that mean to access the Resources directory of an application script bundle you need to remove the '.app' from the app name in the path reference?

TIA

The file in the application is not invisible. The Finder is just programmed to not display the contents of an application bundle (which is really just a folder with the extension ".app" at the end of it) unless you explicitly choose "Show Package Contents." Another behavior that differentiates an application bundle (folder with a .app extension) from a regular folder is that double- clicking on the bundle will launch the application rather than display the contents of the folder.

You can test this yourself by getting "info" on an application and removing the ".app" extension from it and seeing that it turns back into a regular folder. Alternatively, you can take any old folder and add a ".app" extension to it and see that it now has an application icon.

Hope this demystifies things a bit.

Using 'path to me' intended for use in an application but executed in ScriptEditor I have saved a text file into the same directory as the 'Contents' folder of the SE app. When I contextually show the contents of the application I can see the file in there but on 'Show Contents' and backup to view the 'Contents' folder itself in column view, my file is invisible. I realize I can do some Terminal stuff to remove the file or just re-install the application but am more curious as to how the file being made invisible in that directory?
