I have an extensive collection of spam that I use for development but I don't use Apple's mail.

I find exactly zero spam messages out of 10,000 or so that do not have a Message-ID: header.

I do find that Eudora treats Message-id: differently from Message-ID: and I don't think it should but it's possible that Apple's mail behaves similarly.

I also find some messages that have their headers terminated early with a blank line. That sometimes forces the Message-ID: header into what Eudora treats as part of the message test.
