Wow - it took a really dramatic, aggressive response by several AppleScript-Users regulars, to draw my attention to the fact that the relatively famous Randal Schwartz is a member of our fair list! (For those who are having trouble placing the name, you might find it on your bookshelf if you own any good Perl books). I see by searching the archive that he's been an active list member for a few years, but I hadn't noticed until just now.
Randal, it's an honor to have you here and I really hope you decide to stay. With you and Matt Neuberg in our midst, we've got the brainiac scripting authors segment covered!
I don't think your off-list reply was out-of-line, and I'm sort of shocked and awed by the ire it provoked. Anyway, I've noticed that this list gets a bit of an old-timer gang mentality sometimes, and always over the most trivial of issues.
And I don't always go to the effort to add "off list" to my private messages, either.

I tried to do the right thing. I tried to inform $pseudonymous person that reply-to is harmful. I did it with a private email.
The fact that it was brought back PUBLICLY was laughable.
So, let's not be mistaking what actually happened here.
Those of us that have been around the block a few times were trying to educate those of us who didn't seem to have the clues yet.
And the response on his (her?) part was comedy gold. Sheesh.
