For some reason, the message below (sent a while back) doesn't appear
to have made it to the list. So, FWIW...

I'd be surprised if that were the case -- it would mean that your
trash wouldn't work if you switched languages. Try changing
primary languages and see what happens.
I did that earlier. The names of the primary mailboxes in Mail
change to reflect the primary language:
{inbox, drafts mailbox, sent mailbox, trash mailbox, junk mailbox}
--> {"Inbox", "Drafts", "Sent", "Trash", "Junk"}
--> {"Boîte de réception", "Brouillons", "Messages envoyés",
"Corbeille", "Courrier indésirable"}
--> {"Eingang", "Entwürfe", "Gesendet", "Papierkorb", "Werbung"}
--> {"Entrata", "Bozze", "Inviata", "Cestino", "Indesiderata"}
--> {"Entrada", "Borradores", "Enviado", "Papelera", "No deseado"}
--> {"Caixa de entrada", "Rascunhos", "Enviado", "Lixo", "Mensagens
Indesejadas"}
etc...
However, the directories on disk remain unchanged. (Since the
average user would carry out most/all operations in Mail, I
shouldn't think the names on disk would concern him/her that much.)
