Unless its a webkit based app, I believe those bitmaps/icons are stored in one of these resource files:


/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ HIToolbox.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Extras.rsrc /System/Library/ Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/ Versions/A/Resources/HIToolbox.rsrc

or maybe in these modern times, drawn by calls to the CoreGraphics framework.
