I agree, which is why I was trying to script it out of finder.. I'd
also like to avoid system events, seeing as though the code actually
works, when run outside of Folder actions, I'm curious to know what

Perhaps could you prepare a sample script (the one run through Folder
actions) that reproduces your problem, as well as a sample file that is
to be run through "run script"?
It's often easier to trace problems with the help of real code... ;-)
