With an open doc in which a group of characters selected I assumes

An insertion point usually refers to the point between any two
characters
(or before the first/after the last). So its contents is usually an
empty
string, but as long as contents is not read-only you can insert
text by
setting the contents to a string. It should not be confused with the
selection.
(At least, that's the case in all apps I've seen it in; I haven't
looked at
Pages.)
Thanks
So, it sounds as if "Insertion point" is a kind of synonym for
"Selection".
Am'I right ?
