Maybe this kind of code may help:
set thePath to "Macintosh HD:Users:yvan_koenig:Desktop:ƒ banque:"
tell application "Finder"
if class of item thePath is alias file then
set originalPath to original item of item thePath as Unicode text
else
set originalPath to thePath
end if
end tell
That's equivalent to the "other work-around" that I'm trying to
avoid. The best solution is to find a shell command that can read
the (posix) path to the original item even if it's not mounted. If
the Info window contains the posix path, and it does, then there
should be a way to read it.
I apologize, I know quite nothing about Unix and Shell scripts so, I
am unable to help you on this path.
I hope that some guru will be able to point the Unix tool able to
grab the "original item" of an alias but I'm not sure that Unix is
aware of this kind of feature.
