And, of course, I immediately tested this in 10.5.5. You're right! The Dock does not follow folder aliases into a hierarchical menu. Very nice.

Unless, of course, you *want* folder aliases to create hierarchical menus, in which case bad luck! I'd prefer it as an option myself.
