Unless, of course, you *want* folder aliases to create hierarchical
menus, in which case bad luck! I'd prefer it as an option myself.
I just tested this in Tiger. Folder menus in the Tiger's Dock do
follow folder aliases into a hierarchical menu. DragThing and Script
menu do the same thing. Not good.
This is one of those things that seem like a good thing until you try
it. When a folder menu follows folder aliases, you get an overload of
useless and confusing information. I wouldn't even want it as an option.
I have, in a folder menu, an alias pointing to a folder containing
year-numbered sub-folders, containing month-numbered sub-folders,
containing day-numbered sub-folders. In Leopard, all you see is the
first alias ... open it if you like. This same folder menu in
DragThing, Script menu or Tiger's Dock is simply impossible to use.
