Then, I went to my old copy of ALG [1993] and found that there is a
"text item delimiters" property and it's a property of Scriptable
Text Editor.
Next, I looked-up "text item delimiters" in the most recent copy of
"AppleScriptLanguageGuide.pdf" [Dec 07] and found that it always
appears preceded by "AppleScript's".
Hello Luther,
Just to avoid any confusion: in spite of its appearance in the December
2007 developer documentation set, that guide is still the one related to
AS 1.3.7 and dated May 5, 1999.
We all are awaiting the new ASLG, announced to be coming soon... ;-)
Where is the distinction between "AppleScript's text item delimiters"
and "text item delimiters" documented?
Michelle and Mark already provided the rationale behind the
"AppleScript's" part.
It's very implicitely documented in the ASLG, for example through
sentences like:
"You can use the global variable AppleScript to get properties
of AppleScript itself rather than properties of the current
target. You can refer to this global variable from any part of
any script."
That is, reading between the lines, "text item delimiters" alone could
refer to a property of the current target.
Who said that point was never documented? ;-)
Axel
