I've found a few problems with SIPS.
The intent term "Saturation" is spelled incorrectly and needs to be
typed as
"Satuation" -- if you'd ever need it ;-)
SIPS will not honour any intent other than relative if it doesn't
like the
B2A2 table in the destination profile. There are no warnings when
this
happens so I reported it as a bug (ID# 5633670: SIPS cannot match
images
with any intent other than "relative") last year but haven't seen
any follow
ups.
Sorry, but what does "intent" mean in this context?
It means how you want to translate the colour values in the source
image so that they can be reproduced properly by the destination device.
In pre-press and print this usually means deciding between:
Perceptual: all colour values changed to fit the destination device
while maintaining the relationships between values so that the image
is "perceived" to be correct.
Relative Colorimetric: change only those values that have no
equivalent in the destination device so that the in-gamut colours are
accurately reproduced but out-of-gamut values are clipped/compressed.
