My installer written in Applescript, which mainly just tells the
finder to copy a folder from one place to another, gets a few
different errors from time to time on various customers' set-ups. I
posted before about error -10006.
Another one of them is error -8086, whose definition I can't find
listed anywhere.
Can anyone enlighten me about what this error is and how I might
work around it? Any questions I should ask the user about their
system?
Thank you for any help you can give!
Assuming that this error came from Finder -- the source of the error
is always useful information, and sometimes critical -- then it's
"destination permissions error", which suggests that the target folder
isn't writable. (No write permission, on a locked volume, something
like that.)

P.S.: No, it's not in any public header. File a bug against Finder
that they should either make the constant public, or stop returning
private error numbers from public interfaces.
