You haven't said which version of FileMaker Pro you are using.
I haven't tried this myself and I don't have FMP with me. Have you thought of using the web viewer control within FMP with a "file:///..." URL stored (or calculated) in FMP? Or is there something specific to Preview that is more helpful to you? This came to me when I was thinking you could have used Safari instead of Preview, and then realised you can do a web viewer in FMP.
