That's what I am unable to achieve here. I normally use Eudora but I tried creating a new message in Mail, created a link in it, clicked it and it did not make a tab on the latest window I had created in Safari and that was in focus. It picked another window, and not even the one I had last created with the script.
Wondering if it depends on the application requesting the url to be opened. I'm also wondering how it picks the window to create the tab in. If I knew that, perhaps there would be hope to have the script force that somehow.

You have understood correctly. Just that it does not work that way for me.

Not sure what you mean by a multi-tab bookmark unless you mean the bookmarks created on the toolbar by dragging onto it.
These ones seem to correctly create the new tab on the current in focus page when I cmd-click them.
