Hi,

Thanks a lot, that worked a treat!

There's one more thing it would be nice to do (isn't there always?!). At the moment it fires off the save operation and the AppleScript continues running. When the Application has saved the file(s) it displays a dialog saying "Successfully Saved" with an "Ok" button. Is there anyway I can have my Script Wait until this window is displayed and then keystroke the "Ok" button?

Thanks a lot

Dave,
Perhaps you can continue using System Events to keystroke command +shift+G for "Go To Folder" followed by keystroking the desired path finishing up with a return. You might need to throw in a delay here and there but with some testing it should be pretty straightforward.
I don't know if every program supports the Go To Folder mechanism but I think it is universal to the OS, at least in 10.4 +

Good luck
Ian

Hi All,

I have an application that is not scriptable, I have used System Events to select a "Save as Special..." menu item. This works fine but the application puts up a standard Choose Folder dialog in order to select the folder to store the file. I can keystroke a "return" and this works too to select the current folder path, but the folder path is not guaranteed to be where I need it to be, e.g. it could be pointing to anywhere on the hard disk(s). I need the file(s) save in a specific place so as to do Script processing on the resultant files.

Is there any way I can select the correct folder in the application before I send the "return" keystroke?

Thanks a lot for your help.

All the Best
Dave
