Terribly sorry for my careless typing.
That's Option-Enter. With your curser in the URL bar (Location Bar) at
the top of Safari (any version), Hitting Option-Enter DOWNLOADS the
URL instead of loading it in the browser.

Is the technique you're referring to something new in OS 10.6? Or some
