Most people save their scripts as .scpt - compiled Scripts, or as
applications, which nowadays means as bundles.

How is it you have it saved as an .applescript (as Text)?

SetNetwork Location. is a script delivered with the system. If I understood well, the OP just tried to open it from the disk.
