That is correct.
I can corroborate that all scripts run by SpeechRecognitionServer have a flicker to them.... they work, they don't work!
This is not so in Leopard.
However, one thing I've noticed in SL, displaying commands is the default in SL and it does not work in Leopard.
And, if Leopard is an example, then SpeechRecognitionServer fails after a certain amount of time.
I'd write to Apple to improve this capability in its OS.
I believe that speech is, strangely, better in Snow Leopard.... Go figure!

I don't see that at all. I was successfully using my scripts in Leopard. But since the install of SL I've had numerous problems with them. At this point I've given up, since someone gave me a copy of MacSpeech Dictate for Christmas.

I am truly disappointed, though. I used Apple's speech recognition for years (literally) and got a lot of usage from it. The fact that it is no longer reliable has thrown many of my scripts out the window and others have needed serious rewriting.

Kevin

Kevin,
Just to clarify, I believe speech is better in SL. I believe it has less "misses" than Leopard, however, the scriptability of the server is really gone in SL.
I, as I pointed out, used the server, may be as earlier as Tiger, to do roll calls and it was great. It would eventually time out for a class of 25. But It would work.
I did some tests with SL and it works OK if you only run it once.
But you are right, with SL you may throw away all your speech scripts. That, is how effective they are.
Funnily, this is the technology that had the least improvement, if it had any...
